MISSIONS IN ACTION AT PLEASANT RIDGE CHRISTIAN CHURCH - May, 2018
Third Sunday of the Month - Mission Collection

Help for the Recent Church Fire
On Monday morning (4/30) a fire destroyed the New Gospel Tabernacle Holiness Church, a small church on Laura Wall Boulevard in Winston Salem.  The church building was not insured but the Pastor says they will rebuild and is asking for prayers.  In addition to holding services for about 50 members, the church runs a nonprofit which feeds the youth and elderly.  To help in this rebuilding effort the Mission Committee has designated this month’s collection to be used to support the church rebuild. If you are able to help in this effort please mark your checks with “Church Fire” in the memo line.

GFA – Pastor Wankhade
Last month our third Sunday collection was to support Pastor Wankhade – we had to raise $300 to reach our annual support commitment…..and we made it!  Thank you all for you continued support and prayers for this ministry.

Samaritan’s Purse – NC Tornado Relief
For two weeks we held a special collection for the victims of the recent Tornado devastation here in NC.  We collected and sent $545 to help Samaritan’s Purse in the rebuilding of these communities.  Thank you for your support.

Book Collection for Students in Need
For the second year we have received a request to help some of the poorest Davie County elementary students (@ 85% free and reduced lunch levels) to meet their summer reading requirements.  Last year we collected 123 books and are hoping to exceed that amount this year. To help reach this goal, we will be collecting new or used books, either paper or hardback, that are suitable for an elementary school reader grades K-5 (a collection tub is in the Fellowship Hall).  Please bring them within the next 2 weeks so that we can deliver them for distribution before school ends for the summer.

Out of the Garden
As the school year winds down the MC wishes to thank you for your ongoing support of PRCC’s monthly hotdog/hamburger dinners. This month $534 was raised which allowed us to reach our annual goal.  Thanks to all for your continued support throughout the school year.

Nursing Home Residents
A new ministry for our senior neighbors has begun!  A weekly flower delivery…..each week we are now delivering donated flowers to those residents located in local nursing homes. It is amazing thing to see the smiles that these bouquets (and the visits) mean to those that receive them.  In addition we will continue to collect miscellaneous small items that are distributed on a regular basis.

Bondage Breakers Outreach Ministries
We continue to support the Bondage Breakers Outreach Ministries with weekly teaching, counseling, supplies, baked goods etc. and monetary donations, and we are seeing lives changed.  There are currently 20 residents at the Allen House who remain in need of items such as men's socks, underwear (boxers), undershirts, and T-shirts, toiletries, etc.  Please see Barbara for additional information.

Greensboro Urban Ministry
We will continue to collect peanut butter, oatmeal, and/or mixed fruit for the Greensboro Urban Ministry. The MC is also in the process of planning to serve dinner to the residents of Weaver House within the next couple of months.  Details will follow.

PRCC Good Samaritan Fund
We continue to find opportunities to bless others with the PRCC Good Samaritan Fund.  Please contact Pastor Bill if you know anyone needing emergency relief i.e., food, clothing, shelter, etc., and/or see someone from the Mission Comm. if you wish to contribute to the fund.

Ongoing Clothing and Household Items Distribution
Please keep bringing clothing and household items for us to distribute to those in need. We support multiple outreach ministries (for men, women, and children) on a weekly basis.  Please see Barbara if you have any items you wish to donate.

Just One More Thing!!!!!        Saving the Lost 2017-2018
As we reviewed this year’s mission (Saving the Lost) the Mission Committee continued to look for ways to support this goal just purchased 100 Bibles for the Voice of the Martyrs ministry.  Stay tuned….more to come!
