Pleasant Ridge Christian Church  - 150 Years of service

Worship Service 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mornings

We can look to Jesus as our model.  Consider this, “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.  Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 2:3-5).
Jesus emptied Himself, came to us in our likeness, humbled Himself in obedience, even unto the cross, to the shame, and to crucifixion.
God desires us to be humble.  I think greatness begins in humility.  Has there been anyone who humbled themselves more than Jesus?  No… and that is why, “God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow” (Phil. 2:9-10)
As we approach the Passion may we think upon these things and ask, “Am I seeking to be humble?”

A Note from Pastor Bill Meredith - March 2018

If you were to pick a quality to aspire to, what would it be?  There are many characteristics to choose from; honesty, integrity, loyalty, compassion are but a few.  In our world today, we may consider qualities like influential, powerful, or wealthy.  Here’s a question….How many of us would choose humility?  I know, it sounds boring.  Be careful though, Jesus said He was what?…humble…. “I am gentle and humble in heart”  Matthew 11:29.  We could say humility is opposite of prideful and by being humble, we are not saying we are weak, certainly Jesus was not weak, but we are saying we are willing to submit ourselves to God, allow God to use us as He wills and have the utmost confidence in whatever God’s plan is for our lives.  Don’t misunderstand, however…. successful people who have great influence can also be humble.  Not all powerful individuals are prideful…. and surely not all prideful people are powerful. Billy Graham remained humble throughout his life as he kept the message clear and simple.  Certainly, he was one of the most influential men of our time.
