The Missions Committee recently met to discuss many of the ways we can be the hands and feet of Christ by meeting the needs of those God places on our hearts. We pray that you will see how God is calling you to be a part of this ministry.
This year the Men's Fellowship Group sponsored the digging of a fresh water well in India. Recently Gospel for Asia sent us a letter and pictures of the villagers utilizing the well. In the letter the writer states that they could not get clean drinking water in their village. They approached the government about their concern, but they didn't help them. So, they prayed for help. Now, thanks to God their prayers have been answered through this donation. They now have clean drinking water. The Men's Fellowship Group feels blessed that they could serve the Lord and assist the people of this village. The letter and pictures of the well are in the Fellowship Hall.
One area that you may want to get involved is with the Pack-a-thons with Feed the Hunger. We recently had an event that sponsored members of the congregation to pack food for those in need. For that event, food was packed for the needs in both Burlington, NC and Bangladesh. We are also in the early planning stages of a missions with Feed the Hunger to the mountains of Kentucky. If this is an outreach that you are interested in please contact Marilyn Freeman
The Men's Fellowship Group is hosting Hot Dog Suppers to raise money for the Out of the Garden Project. The Out of the Garden Project delivers food to local schools. The schools then give the food to children in need at the end of each week. The children receive food during the school week through their local schools, but on the weekends they may go without. This program makes sure these children have something to eat. This is our third year working with this program. It is an honor for PRCC to work with the Out of the Garden Project.
Our Goal: Raise $11,000 (at least) by August 31, 2015 to build a church in Asia through Gospel for Asia. (Note: If this goal is reached early in the year, we will expand our goal to provide resources to build multiple GFA churches). We would love for you and your church to join us to build a church. You can donate on line at www.mygfa.org/prccgreensboronc/ .
The Women's Group supports a mission in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. This Christian organization offers support, fellowship, and worship service to those interested. It also supplies the youth opportunities to attend a yearly camping trip.
The Mission Committee is coordinating an ongoing outreach to Greensboro Manor and Brighton Gardens. Currently Sandra Parkes is coordinating a weekly Friday night Bible reading at Greensboro Manor and beginning in January Fiona Meisner will be coordinating a monthly daytime activity ministry at Brighton Gardens. Please see either Sandra or Fiona if God is leading you to help in this ministry. You will be amazed how just a little bit of time will show the love of Jesus and put a smile on the faces of our elderly neighbors. In addition we have a container in our church's Narthex to collect items that we will be able to share with these residents. Please consider if this is an area where you can help with donations.
We are in the planning stages of beginning a Laundromat ministry where we will share the love of Jesus while we help people with their laundry needs. Please see Richard Parkes if this is an outreach that might be of interest to you.
